MHO is part of the Metropolitan Housing Partnership, which promotes quality housing and strong communities through the family of five specialist social enterprises.
MHO was established in 1981 as a non-charitable organisation to provide affordable homes for sale in London , the Home Counties and East Midlands and has since helped over 26,000 households into homes of their own. Our target for affordability is to offer homes at costs between 25% and 75% of open market value to both low (£16k-£22k) and moderate (£22k-45k) income earners. Whilst interest rates are low, we are also committed to setting low initial rents, especially in high value areas, to help meet this target.
MHO provide Shared Ownership most actively in Haringey, Hackney, Enfield, Brent, Barnet, Harrow, Dacorum, Southwark and Lambeth but are always looking for opportunities to acquire or develop more properties. We are currently aiming to maintain a development plan of 300 new homes per year. As well as transforming lives, MHO have recently been involved in regeneration projects, innovation projects and new build developments that have helped to transform areas.
As well as Shared Ownership, MHO offer other affordable housing options through the Homebuy scheme to residents of Haringey and Enfield . MHO are a ‘Zone Agent' in North and East London for Key Worker Living - a government led initiative offering low cost home ownership and intermediate renting options to key workers. MHO have also worked with our partners in the East London Sub-region to run Housing Options, a one-stop shop for affordable homes
