Secluded in its own woodland, Plas Gelliwig has an enchanting and peaceful atmosphere. Steeped in history, it is regarded with affection locally. Over the past ten years the property and its garden have been the subject of sympathetic refurbishment by the current owners who have valued the many original features of the Plas, such as the slate fireplaces, the kitchen service bells, the cellar and its larder room, the butlers pantry and the ornate arched and pillared sky-lit corridor known as the Moroccan Corridor. Some rooms have yet to be renovated, including the large traditional kitchen. The Plas is approached by a sweeping drive through mature woodland and in spring is successively carpeted by snowdrops, daffodils, bluebells and ramsons (wild garlic). The grounds are interesting and unusual, a series of garden landscapes each with its own attractive quality, a partially walled garden, orchard, homestead yard, terraced lawns, streams, small courtyard, field with mountain views and some very fine trees.
COACH HOUSE
The Coach House overlooking the homestead yard has a great deal of charm. It has recently been re-pointed and re-roofed. It was used as a dwelling until the late 1980s and with the relevant planning permission could make an attractive addition to the living accommodation of the Plas.
