Bungalows are back in Hornchurch, thanks to Fairclough Homes’ College Fields development. The much-loved house type flourished between the 1930s and 1950s, but fewer examples have been seen in recent years due to planning requirements which aim to use land more intensively.
The very fact that bungalows are comparatively rare is a selling point for College Fields, where according to sales and marketing director Larry Crook, buyers will find ‘an updated version of an old favourite’. Nine bungalows are being built at the development; all the three-bedroom houses have been reserved but there are currently four-bedroom bungalows, each with two bathrooms and a designer fitted kitchen, priced from £364,950. There are also three-bedroom semi-detached and four-bedroom detached houses available, at prices starting from £269,950.
