The Declaration of Tourist Utility can be requested for the existing tourist explorations that face remodelling and benefiting, total or partial re-equipment, or still, as it may be the case, that imply an increase of the accommodations capacity in at least 50%.
The benefits on assuring the Declaration of Tourist Utility are significant:
- The integrated buildings are exempt of annual property tax (IMI – Imposto Municipal sobre Imóveis) for 7 years;
- The transmissions are exempt of transfer tax (IMT – Imposto Municipal sobre Transacções), and the stamp tax (Imposto de Selo) is reduced to 1/5 of its value;
- There is an exemption or temporary reduction of the taxes decurrent of licenses charged by civil governments and by IGAC (Inspecção Geral das Actividades Culturais).
